En av de roligare saker att göra när man kommer till en ny stad är att gå på biblioteket. I Gent finns flera, inte minst universitetets höga boktorn. Jag blev guidad i huvudbiblioteket, ett hus som ligger snygg och prydligt i staden, men som är alldeles för trång för sina böcker. Så nu är ett nytt hus på gång – efter en lång tid av bråk. Hur ska det smälta in? har motståndarna skrikit. Hur bra som helst, säger jag!
Längst ner i nuvarande hus finns ett temarum och bibliotekarien som är ansvarig för rummet säger:

The worst bookmark we found in a book: a reader made one with all the alleged errors he found in a book he borrowed from our library: e.g. the depth of that lake is not …m deep but…, the name of that person is not x but y, he married not on July 12th but August 12th etc… etc…
